The City of Sherwood’s Office of Economic Development works with the Mayor’s Office on ways to attract new Commercial Developments for the City. The Office works closely with Federal, State and Regional Economic Development programs to cultivate leads for prospective Businesses.

Research and Marketing of the City of Sherwood to Prospective Businesses are the two main goals of this Office. Quality and Accurate Research can positively impact the marketing effort by providing persuasive decision-making information for a prospective business considering whether it is a prudent decision to locate or re-locate their business in Sherwood.

This Office utilizes all of the Community’s resources to prepare and make the “business case” for an industry to move or locate here.

Sherwood has a very pro-business attitude. In the past sixteen (16) months alone, the City of Sherwood has attracted over 900 full-time jobs and over 300 seasonal part-time jobs with the opening of Gander Mountain, FTD Call Center, Cardinal Health Care Call Center, Fort Thompson, Mardel’s, Grandpa’s Catfish, Fiser Kabota, and many other small businesses that we are happy to welcome to our city. Our first hotel, a Best Western, located on Warden Road, will open this spring, 2007. Groundbreaking for the construction of our second hotel on Warden Road will also be this spring, 2007.

The Sherwood Economic Development Office works closely with State and Regional Development Partners such as the Sherwood Chamber of Commerce www.sherwoodchamber.net, the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce www.littlerockchamber.com Metro Little Rock Alliance www.metrolittlerockalliance.com , the Arkansas Dept. of Economic Development www.1800arkansas.com , and UALR’s Center for Economic Development Education www.aiea.ualr.edu/econdev/ to market the Central Arkansas Area.
