After-School Care Program
The
City of Sherwood offers after-school care from 3:00 p.m.
- 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, for students attending
Sherwood public schools in 1st grade through 5th grade,
for children age 6 through 14 years old. A van picks up
the students at the school and brings them to Sherwood
Forest. The program includes an emphasis on assisting
the children in completing their homework assignments.
Tutors are available to assist the children. The
after-school program also offers organized indoor and
outdoor recreational activities for the children that
are overseen by program Counselors.
Animal
Services/Control
The Sherwood Animal
Shelter will respond 24 hours a day/7 days a week to any
problem you may have with stray or wild animals in or
around your property. Animal Services also offers
animals for adoption, and will provide spay and
neutering services for your pet for a modest fee. For

Bill Harmon Recreation
Center
The City of Sherwood opened the
Bill Harmon Recreation Center in April of 2002. The
facility offers strength and aerobics training under the
guidance of a fitness trainer, a large lap pool, an
indoor walking/running track, and a gymnasium with
basketball courts. Locker rooms and shower facilities
are also offered for the convenience of members. In
addition to the excellent exercise opportunities offered
by the Center, there are meeting rooms that may be
rented for special events such as seminars and

a weekly garbage pick-up service for all private
residences. Businesses may contract for either weekly or
biweekly garbage pickup. "No paint containers of any
type are allowed in trash containers. Please put
paint containers in box and move to curb, then call
835-3288 for pick up." For solid wastes including
water heaters or appliances, you may contact the Public

Land Development
The City of Sherwood is working with area developers
to develop over 500 acres East and South of Highway 107,
and West of Brockington Road. When completed this new
subdivision will be home to over 400 new residents. The
City is also exploring the creation of a Tax Increment
Financing, or TIF District to assist us in developing
the infrastructure for this area of the City. If
approved, the new TIF District will accelerate
commercial development for the area, and improve roads
and utilities capacity.
Leaf Pick-up
Service
No more back breaking work to
bag your fallen leaves! In the fall and winter months,
the City of Sherwood offers its residents a leaf pick-up
service, as part of the fee for garbage collection and
recycling. Homeowners do not have to bag leaves during
the months of November - January of each year for the
City Sanitation Department to pick-up their leaves. You
may rake your leaves to the curbside, and our Sanitation
Department will vacuum them up and dispose of them. Our Sanitation Department will collect your unbagged

Sherwood has two public libraries available for its
residents: the Amy Sanders Public Library located at 31

Watch
The Sherwood Police Department
assists neighborhoods in creating and maintaining
neighborhood watch programs. As a part of our focus on
community-based policing, we are strong advocates of our
residents playing an active role by assisting the Police
Department in identifying any situations that appear out

Parking Tickets
If you have received a routine parking ticket
written by a Sherwood Police Officer, you have until
your court appearance date to pay the ticket, or
alternatively you may appear in our District Court to

Residents pay an annual
county personal property tax on any vehicles and

County

assess a municipal property tax on its residents.
Residents pay an annual county personal property tax on

at the Center is the monthly potluck luncheon. Attended
regularly by over 100 seniors from the community, the
luncheon is a feast of food coupled with an informative

Medicaid, and consumer protection laws. In addition to
educational presentations, there has been local musical
entertainment provided by individuals and groups in the

The Jack Evans Senior Citizens
Center provides a free shuttle service for seniors that
are no longer independent. The service picks up seniors
at their home and takes them shopping, to doctor's
appointments, and other places they need to go to

Sewage Treatment
Wastewater for Sherwood residences and businesses is
handled by the North Little Rock Wastewater Department
and the Sherwood Wastewater Department. A new wastewater
facility is under construction in Sherwood that will

Sherwood Fest
In the fall of every year, the City of Sherwood
holds a festival at Sherwood Forest. The day starts with
a Chamber sponsored pancake breakfast from 7:00 a.m. to
10:00 a.m., and there are homemade crafts and food for
sale, rides for the kids, and contests and entertainment
for children and adults, pony rides and a petting zoo
for the children, as well as educational demonstrations
by Sherwood Police and Fire Departments. Sherwood Fest
is a fun time for the entire family.
Sherwood Forest
Sherwood Forest is a 21,000 square foot indoor and
outdoor event facility operated by the Advertising &
Promotion Department of the City. It is home to
conferences, seminars, parties, weddings, and events of
all types year-round. Sherwood Forest is also the site
for the City's After-School Care Program that provides
instructional and recreational activities for children

The City
of Sherwood's annual operating budget is funded largely
through a one-cent sales tax on items purchased.
Currently Sherwood has an additional one-cent sales tax,
used to fund improvements to our wastewater district.
The wastewater tax will sunset in July 2005, at which
