The Jack Evans Senior Citizens Center
The Jack Evans Senior Citizen Center provides a supportive environment for our community’s seniors through a number of events and services. The center is open to anyone 50 years of age and older. Activities are a large part of the daily offerings of the Center. They include card games, bingo, line dancing, ceramics, watercolor painting, beanbag baseball games and tournaments, computer classes, scrapbook/crop, aerobics, Bunco and Wii (baseball, golf, tennis and bowling).
There are a number of regularly scheduled events offered by the Center, such as the monthly potluck luncheon held at 11:30 am on the first Monday of each month. On Friday nights local musicians from the community play at the Center from 6:00 pm until 10:00pm. A pancake breakfast is served a couple of times a year. We also offer a quarterly driving class sponsored by AARP (American Association of Retired Persons). This year (2011) our annual Fish Fry – Fund Raiser will be on Saturday- April 30th. We host a drop in for all participants of our local Christmas Parade, this consist of hot chocolate, cookies, punch, hot cider and coffee.
We organize out of town luncheon or dinner trips to Red Apple Inn in Heber Springs, Petit Jean State Park, and Garvin Gardens in Hot Springs, the Wiederkehr Winery in Altus or over night trips to Branson, Missouri. Our trip to Mackinac Island in Northern Michigan will be June 12-18, 2011; transportation will be with Diamond Tours, Inc.
The Jack Evans Senior Citizens Center offers transportation services for medical appointments and grocery shopping to our seniors who are not able to drive. The Center has four handicapped accessible vehicles with a wheel chair lift or ramp for those who require additional assistance.
We are one of the Early Voting Locations for Pulaski County for 2011- 2012.
We provide shelter in case of any local emergency.
